More than 30 years ago, Stuart Haskin began a journey that would come to be known as Get Safe. Having earned black belts in multiple martial arts disciplines, Stuart decided to open a martial arts school. From the very start, he heard story after story from people who had experienced violence or had close brushes with violence. Hearing these stories, he started to think about personal safety and awareness; he began wondering how he could help people protect themselves from harm or how he might help in the aftermath of an assault with the rebuilding of confidence and providing tools to help people get safe in every aspect of their lives.

After many discussions with his business partner, they reached a point where they needed to decide between teaching martial arts and specializing in personal safety training; Stuart chose the latter. You see, on average, a martial arts instructor may see 500 students a year in a studio or dojo, but teaching personal safety and awareness, one can see 5,000 to 10,000 people per year and Stuart wanted to reach the masses with his message of hope, strength and safety.

All these years later, Stuart continues to captain his "safety ship" know as Get Safe which has expanded its training, education and advocacy services to include safety and awareness training for victims of violent crime and assaults, victims of domestic violence, persons with developmental disabilities, educational institutions and corporations across the nation, training more than 50,000 students since those early days. Today, Get Safe offers these services as well as a broad range of advocacy services, curricula, consulting services and an ever-increasing number of tools and products to help people from all walks of life, get safe, be safe and stay safe.
