Are You a Secondary Survivor? |
One-degree of separation
- Are you trying to come to terms with the assault of someone you know?
- Has a relative or close friend just come home from military service?
- Has anyone close to you experienced trauma, such as the death of a loved one, loss of a job, the end of a relationship, or a combination of the above?
Humans are social beings and we need to be able to count on each other, to trust each other, to look out for each other. However, when someone close to you experiences a trauma, your own struggle may make it harder for you to be their source of support.
If you have a friend or relative or partner who has survived an assault, please consider learning about secondary survivorship. A good resource is the Get Safe book, "Secondary Survivors: A Guide To Healing For You And Your Loved One." |
