Founder & Executive Director

Stuart Haskin has taught tens-of-thousands of students how to live safer lives. From survivors of violence and sexual assaults to persons with special-needs both children and adults, Haskin, uses humor combined with innovative teaching, counseling and martial arts techniques to make it possible for his students to live safer, violence-free lives. For Haskin, that means helping people smile again and enjoy all that life has to offer, without fear.

For many, life is fraught with fear; fear at home, at work, at school, on vacation, even in day-to-day routine activities. Haskin, an expert on personal safety, has been helping people around the world build stronger, safer lives for more than 30 years. Using his simple and powerful S-A-F-E system (Scan – Assess – Forecast – Execute), Haskin shows his students how to find and use their own inner strength and awareness to take back control of their lives.

Haskin has trained and counseled tens-of-thousands of victims of violent crimes. He has worked closely with law enforcement officers, military personnel, teachers, students and men and women from all walks of life, to help them achieve freedom from fear in their lives. More than simply instructing, Haskin interacts with his students on the emotional, cognitive and physical levels to create an empowering, life-changing shift in personal awareness and safety.

Haskin’s work with persons with physical and developmental disabilities and their caregivers as well as the innovative GSCAT (Get Safe Consumer Advocacy Training) program have helped thousands of effected people navigate day-to-day life and our complex legal system.

Haskin, an Orange County Sergeant Reserve Deputy Sheriff and frequent guest speaker, has earned black belts in Kung Fu, Judo, Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido. His law enforcement credentials include training from the FBI, The California Department of Justice Diplomatic Security Service and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Haskin is also a State Certified Sexual Assault Victim and Domestic Violence Counselor. His recently published book, “Gift of Freedom,” makes his innovative and engaging “freedom from fear” curriculum immediately available to those at risk everywhere.

Haskin’s clients include survivors of violent sexual and physical assaults, persons with disabilities, children, parents, law enforcement personnel, and medical and corporate professionals. Through Get Safe, the organization he founded in 1993, he creates a nurturing educational environment where everyone can learn the skills needed to protect themselves and lead full, productive and violence-free lives.

Haskin is a respected community leader and lives in Huntington Beach, California with his wife and daughter. Haskin enjoys surfing and wishes he had more time to devote to “working out the kinks” of his surfing techniques.
