You ask the secretary to page someone and an Assistant Principal appears and introduces themselves as Harvey. He’s responsible for safety and maintenance on campus. Harvey walks you around the campus and shows you areas of concern. He introduces you to the security officers, the counselors, and the lunchroom staff. He gives you a 3”x 5” card with schedule break downs, lunch times, and break periods. On the back, it has a link for a schedule for all the school’s sports. You thank him for his time and go back to patrol.

 

A few weeks go by, and you have never needed to go to the school. The dispatcher comes over the radio for a possible suicidal juvenile at your assigned high school. You answer the call and respond. You try to contact Harvey en route, but he doesn’t answer. You get in touch with one of the security personnel. You relay the information to him and he pages an administrator to meet you at the front and walk you to the student.
